Auberge des Bouviers Relax and enjoy this lovely little restaurant after a session at the thermal baths!
Restaurant de Bastard A 5 star gourmet restaurant that is well worth the visit. It's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for.
Cafe's/bars
Cafe des Sports Try the lunches at the Cafe des Sports - the menu changes daily and it is very popular with local people, (always a good test).
Le Meur This is a great little pavement cafe in the high street which offers delicious pain au raisin
Other restaurants include Le Dali, La Pamploise, Le Sherpa and La Bastion. There is also a charming little pizzeria where the delicious aroma never fails to entice.
Lectoure the thermal city
A new world-class thermal centre has been built inside an 18th century mansion house. There is an indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room for recreational use - for adults this is 10 euros for two hours. Other services available include the hydrotherapy pools with hot mineral rich thermal waters, saunas, cures and massages for perfect pampering. This facility rivals any spa in Europe.
The Blue of Lectoure
In 1994 a company was formed and workshops built to re-create the vibrant blue pigment for which Lectoure is famous. Obtained from the pastel (Isatis Tinctoria) this colour is used in the decoration of textiles and the creation of jewellery. A shop has also opened in the main street selling items of clothing etc in this unique colour.
Market
A great street market is held every Friday which runs practically the entire length of the the main street. Open from early until lunchtime you will find a wide variety of localy produced food and other goods. There is really a great atmosphere on market day and a bargain is sure to be found. The market finishes at lunchtime which gives you the perfect opportunity to have lunch in one of the street cafes. During the summer, night markets also feature.
Galleries and Museums
Lectoure has been designated "a town of art and history" by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication since 1985. The town hall was built between 1676 and 1682 by bishop Hugues de Bar. You will find a lot to see and do. Frequent exhibitions are held here. You will also find some very interesting museums, such as the Archeological museum.
Shops
A variety of shops can be found on the main street where you can buy anything from Shoes to Champaigne. Locally produced Armagnac and foie gras are available and are deservedly popular delicacies.
